The Irish Comic Challenge is an online "open mic night" for comics artists. It is open to anyone from or living in Ireland. There's no prize money involved, nor any winner - think of it as a virtual comic jam.

The point of the challenge is to bring comic artists together in a fun way on a regular basis, to try and encourage healthy competition, and to create a digital anthology of sorts that shows the range of styles and talents that exist in the Irish comics scene.

The Challenge started in mid-December '05 as a one-off idea on the Boards.ie Comics forum, and after the amount of interest people expressed the intention is to hold a new round every 2-3 months. At the moment it is a purely web-based initiative (with the design freedoms that this entails) but that may change in the future.

All work posted as part of the challenge remains the property of the original artist. Any queries about the Challenge or participating artists can be directed to myself by emailing fyshbowlcomics(a)gmail dot com.

Fyshbowl Comics is hosted on ComicGenesis, a free webhosting and site automation service for webcomics.
